A New Rectangle And An Oval
I've been reading gastrognome's bonsai pot blog and was struck by some of the
very loud and brightly colored glazes - especially on rectangular pots. The colors seemed almost garish.
But after being initially put off, I decided to create a sort of homage to these striking pots.
The below oval pot is also cone 6 stoneware with a temmoku glaze.

Nice looking wares. Keep up the good work. What do you use to create the shapes and the holes?

Re: A New Rectangle And An Oval
I make the wire holes with a nail. The water holes I make with an apple corer. The oval is thrown on
a wheel as a bottomless cylinder and then deformed into an oval. The rectangle is slab built using a
carpenter's T-square, a yardstick, and a scrap of plywood with 10 degree angles cut. If I ever get
a rectangle that I really love, I might try making a plaster mold for slip casting. Hand building these
things with slabs can be tedious and frustrating.

I like the colors on the oval, and the number of drainage holes.
