Thanks for the kind thoughts. It has a bit of a corkscrew at the top but with a bit of wire , should look pretty good.
Needs a serious thinning out!!

Thanks for the positive comments, gentlemen!!
A long way to go....particularly because I'm learning as I go.
Just a geezer playing pretend with trees in the backyard.
But I do think I can coax a showable composition out of this.
I did wire the larger tree, I'll need to get a photo of my rookie wiring!!
Some decisions need to made on the smaller tree before I wire it...and I ran out of time......didn't want to make any serious cuts too late in the season....

Khai, brudda'....thanks for the initial positive comment!!!
Relatively, the cream of the crop you mentioned ARE close by......
Cash
Rules
Everything
Around
Me...........
So I really can't afford to go that route.........
Me and Brother Johnny are just like you and Anthony, almost, we share a near thirty year friendship.....
Trees enthrall, beguile, and bewilder us.....
I like to experiment, experience, evaluate......
I never have an end in mind for anything......I'll squeeze everything out of the moment. Just like I'm about to squeeze this apple puree thru the cheesecloth into an ice tray for an incredible cocktail I call "Apple blast Rum wobbler".....
Until later......

Re: JBP questions....
Thanks for the comments and the cool virtual picture!!!
To be honest, I will probably end up removing the top of the smaller tree above the middle branch.
Once I grow a "set"....heheheee.....
So I'll need the branches that were removed in the virt. They are in the crown of the larger tree and will need to by craftily wired into a suitable looking apex.
It's a poor photograph to work from, that's my fault!!
But I am pleased that I was able to restore it's vigor, while being fairly clueless about maintaining a conifer. It was knocking on the devil's door when it came to the ranch!!
Not to mention , zone 5 is not all that great for JBP.......
Any other JBP out there?

Hi Lance!

Thanks for your gentleness, but you make me feel ashamed. I am completely ignorant regarding photo editing. It was a naive attempt to simply show that the left trunk if shortened would accomplish an aesthetically better image

Congratulations! I have had 4 failures with pines (nursery stock) until now. But I do not give up, I want to make a pine bonsai! These days I'm going out to the nurseries and search for a possibly interesting pine, either a halepensis (which is native) or a sylvestris (which is difficult to find). So, wish me luck!

Re: JBP questions....
Lance,
down here we have over 30 something J.B.pines and more coming in as rooted cuttings.
However, more time is being spent studying health, trunk thickening and understanding
the mysterious buds, that just erupt on the inner branches.
Learning to control, these buds so you can control the branch lengths and branchlets.
I can enjoy your efforts, but my efforts would be boring / confusing.
Additionally, when to do to get shorter needles.
So if you don't mind being patient.................
