Beautiful photos, details emerging against dark background

Please describe your lighting technique and the equipment you used. The totally black background is stunning. Perhaps a suggestion to next time use a black drape under the trees, so that only the tree and its pot are exposed.

Xuan,
Beautiful trees, I especially love the exposed roots Azaleas (the only shot with two trees together).
Can you give some info on how long you've had them in training, species etc.
Really great idea to shoot them in the dark, like DougB I'm interested in the technique and equipment you used.
Thanks for showing.
Cheers,
Nigel

Thank you all for your replies, I am glad you like them
@ DougB
There is no special techniques for these pictures, I just used the Canon EOS T3i with the flash on, I like your idea to use a black drape under the pot, I will do it next time.
@ Nigel Park I bought these 2 Satsuki one from a friend (the one on the left with blue pot) long time ago (I don't remember what year and I don't know the variety) and the other (on the right) in 2008 at the First National Bonsai Exhibition in Rochester (NY) the variety is Nikko.

Thanks Todd
@myogijohn.
If you are asking about the tree #6 in this topic, it is a Scots pine.

It looks like 'matsu nami', but I'd be surprised if that's what it is. For what it's worth, if it were mine it would be in a bigger (wider, with more surface area) pot.

Thanks Russel, I am still looking for an appropriate pot for this tree

Xuan, perhaps an oval pot with blue glaze will pick out the colors of these flowers?

Re: Some pictures taken in the dark
The color and shape are subjective. The horticultural needs of a satsuki are something completely different.

Re: Some pictures taken in the dark
That's good to know. I'm just starting to learn about azaleas. I have one which I've managed to keep healthy for over a year. I have it growing in a large pot. I don't think its a Satsuki. Any idea what it might be? I reduced the root ball and have it growing in a large training pot. It has leafed out nicely; can't tell by this photo...

Re: Some pictures taken in the dark
Hi Todd, your azalea has nice flowers, why do you let it grows too long? Azaleas bud back very easy so just cut back the long branches and you will have a compact tree with more flowers.

Hi Xuan,
This is the azalea before any pruning was done. I let it bloom so I could see what the flowers looked like. I then cut it way back and repotted it into a training pot, but don't have an "after" picture
