Andy,
As always, a nice selection of pots and glazes.
I particularly like the glaze color and application on pot #3 and pot #4.
Is the rectangle a slab built pot?
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Some Pots for 2009
Hi Pat
The Oval is about 20cm x 15cm. All the rest are Shohin / Chuhin size and approx 10 -15cm wide. I like the red glaze also, it is so unpredicatable and even if I do the exact same firing regieme it can still come out slightly different, which I love about this glaze
Thanks for the comments and hope your well
All the best

Hi Paul
The rectangle is indeed slab built time consuming but worth it I think.
I was "informed" on another forum that I did not show many, if any rectangle pots only round as they are "easy" to make, not my words may I add, so I thought I better show one just incase I was put in the "One Trick Pony Club"
Thanks for your comments and all the best
Regards
Andy

Hi Dale
Yes "The Pain " is a little tiresome sometime but I suppose its an occupational hazard, can't please all the people all the time but what the heck I will die trying
The red glaze, if I can get some to you somehow then I will, you are more than welcome to some
Hope the limp is better
Regards
Andy

Thanks Andy, I was really interested in the depth of your pots. The reason I ask is that I've been taken to task over the depth of my shohin pots...about 50mm, and I was wondering what depth you were making yours. I've now reduced the depth of my pots and would like to show them if only I could bend my mind around what is probably pretty simple tech jargon.....to some, but not me!!!!

Re: Some Pots for 2009
Hi Pat
The slab rectangle is 4cm deep and the Red/Black Oval is 4.5cm deep. I am planning to do some even smaller pots to bridge the Shohin / Mame area. Fingers crossed they wont look too sad
Hope you can get your head around the techi stuff, it will be good to see you pots on the IBC and I am sure other users will agree
Kind regards
Andy

Yes, Stone Monkey, those are really great pots! I like them all, but the red/black one has my top vote too.
Pat, I promised to post some pots here for you, but I've been in over my head with a lot of stuff lately and haven't come back to the IBC for a while. Second, I'd love to also post some of your latest pots, i.e. those that you made less deep. Could you send me some pics? I'll do my best to post them. Hope I still know how! Anyway, here goes a try.
Best wishes,

Great pots!!!
I absolutely love the incurved wall white crackle, it has great form and I am a bit of a sucker for crackle glazes but this one is a little different as it looks like the glaze has slightly crawled in places, wonderful thanks for showing.
Kind regards
Andy

Re: Some Pots for 2009
Hi, Pat:
You say that you have been taken to task for the depth of your pots. Only for their depth, and not for the relationship between depth and width? _That_ is the crux of the matter. All too often the depth is too great for the width. Anyone complaining only about the depth is one-dimensional.
But don't listen to me, I'm only a customer. Or could be one if only the pots were wider.
I think too often potters don't make pots for bonsai but to suit their own artistic flamboyance. Occasionally, I may say what the heck and plant a pine in a purple pot. But no-one would want to make a living out of those occasions.

I read you Reiner and I take it all on-board.
However, I don't want to outlive my welcome on Andy's post so I'm transferring to 'An Ozzie Pot'

Re: Some Pots for 2009
Oh sh..oot! That's what happens when you get the pots of two potters under one thread.
Entirely my mistake, I followed up on a thread that was Andy's. Apologies, Andy!
Sorry, Peter, the blue speckled pot is Pat Kennedy's. See the start of his series on page 1.
