Haircut for my Turkey Oak, Quercus cerris
My turkey oak grew like a weed shading out all the inner parts so it was time for defoliation. In my experience all the oaks I've worked with respond well to this technique as long as they are healthy and growing vigorously.

Obviously this tree has some serious faults as a bonsai. Fencepost trunk, inverse taper, circling roots, and weird branch placement. Still, somehow, I like it and its starting to look like an old giant oak standing in a field.
