I found a tropical mimosa in the everglades and its been in a bonsai pot for about 2 years. Can mimosa trees be defoliated to reduce leaf size since they are large. If so, when is the best time and where do I make the cut? The tree is 2 ft. tall and a very nice specimen. Is there dieback to the next node or do I remove the leaf at the branch?

And now for the other question... where is your picture library ? or how to access it?

I live in the tropics and I've have at least two types of mimosa in my immediate neighborhood that I have seen.
There may be more species.

Also which type of mimosa do you have?
The type who folds its leaves when its touch? or the type that does not fold its leaves?
The vine type? or the tree type [ trunks turns woody as it ages ]?

Yes this is the same species, I defoliate every couple of months through the growing season you should get good back budding. They are very strong growers and the roots grow super fast. I usually have to re-pot once a season or they dry out very fast
