Thank you folks. KennedyMarx, if the tree is happy in its nursery container, I first style the tree and then repot later. That way the tree is sturdy in the pot and I can finalize the style, which dictates the kind of pot. If the tree is not very vigorous, I transplant first into a training pot and wait another couple to three years before styling.
To answer your question, I worked on these trees before I transplanted them.
These junipers are older. Every work needs to be well planned followed by a period of rest. Here in South Florida we do not have cooler nights during summer or cold temperatures during winter. Conifers are not as vigorous as up North.
