Hello Andre,
You will have fun.
I do not know your winter conditions thus
when you go outside, keep your hands in your pocket,
but you do not have to wait that long, larches are one of the earliest to repot
and some branch pruning around that time is possible as well.
In the main time think about a future design, something that will be not that difficult i think with such a nice tree.
Examining of the nerbari will have to tell a bit to.

Lovely tree Andre! It looks too heavy for your black bench ... better send it down here to me! Where did you find this specimen?

Killer material. I love Larches, but Larches won't grow here in the deep south, obviously, and I was recently at a David Easterbrook lecture and demo on literati larches in Pennsylvania, where, even there, because of warming trends, they're having some trouble with decline. 30% Shade cloth was recomended. have fun with that one dre, I'm seeing something a little literati in there myself...

Nice material with lots of potential. Hopefully Pavel will chime in as he makes some nice designs with larches.....it looks like you could tilt it to the left to bring out the curvature and make the lower deadwood section a focal point?

graham ya the deadwood is the focal point and there are so many possibilities but truth be told i have Owen Reich coming to my garden while he is back in the states and the larch is what we will me working on.

Re: collected maine larch
to do a literati style with this tree is the easy way out with all the possibilities this tree has to offer it can be so much more than that ill take a picture of the other side as soon as possible

Re: collected maine larch
here shots of the other side as requested
now do you see the tree has so much more to offer that a literati

Maine Larch
Somebody else in a warm climate wanted a larch. We recommended golden larch, Pseudolarix amabilis, which tolerates down to Zone 9.Ryan B wrote:Larches won't grow here in the deep south, obviously, and I was recently at a David Easterbrook lecture and demo on literati larches in Pennsylvania, where, even there, because of warming trends, they're having some trouble with decline.
