I have been very interested in the other pot thread about the direction of bonsai pottery, so it is good to know that can still be appreciated in one of the two groups mentioned.

@Andy: I really like what you have been doing on your last pot from your thread. The melding of rustic/primitive styling with the traditional feet is provocative. Maybe you could work on a series and carry this idiom out a bit more? It is certainly something that I would consider for your own artistic development. And, yes, I see you as a craftsman AND and artist!

Hey Sam,
Good to hear from you again. This pot is actually 16x12x3, all inside dimensions. I think it would be a great compliment to any grey barked tree, like an ilex, or even one with a pale whitish bark, like a ficus, or a raintree.

What do you think?

I agree. I love the form and the glaze. I actually thought at first glance it might be a shohin sized pot. I was really surprised when you said it was that size.

Well, here are some mame sized pieces...

This gal measures about 2 inches across....

A small pale yellow oval, a little more narrow, but a bit more deep...

I can't forget this small blue guy, the runt of the litter. He is very blue, but only less than 2 inches across.



I have quite a large kiln load that came out this weekend getting stocked up for our club convention, Joy of Bonsai. Lots to do, lots to do....

Just unloaded, inventoried, and photographed a new set from this weekends firing, so I thought I would post them here.....



This is a copper red glaze with some soft undulations from the textured body showing through. As some of you may have read, getting copper to reduce can be tricky.

A simple cup like half cascade, two different glazes..

wonderful pots and great glazes- if I may- slightly higher feet to elevate the pots a little more-yes, that means they have to be heavier-maybe angling in a bit would add a bit more grace to the pots. So glad to see all your wonderful work! kora

Here is another cracked texture pot, in a round form chuchin sized.

and just to share a spot of blue before I turn in for the night, I have this. A little bit bigger than the last pot, and a bit more subtle...

Well, here is one of my designs from about early April last year. I have others in the same style that I have made since then, and I will post more photos of them in a few weeks, when things start to slow down a bit...
