Ahh, then - it must be Dendrochilum magnum! Such a hint you gave... and for your horticultural skills - Magna Cum Laude!
All the best!

Re: Andre's Kusamono
That is a beautiful Dendrochilum magnum. (I would have guessed cobbianum too, but I saw this thread after the name was guessed). I am guessing the plant is between 18 inches and 2 feet tall, too robust to be used as an accent to a tree, but a beautiful kusamono, to be enjoyed in its own right. You have done a great job of getting new growth and flowering all the way around the plant. Having grown Dendrochilim myself, they don't always co-operate. Well done.
Have you sought out some of the Dendrochilum species with smaller leaves and growth habits. Some would include the needle leaf species like wenzellianum, or some of the Philippine species like filliformes? They could make nice specimens small enough to use as accents for a tree.

And if you put the Stapelia in your house, you will realize that not all flowers have a tantelizing scent. These flowers typically smell of rotting meat, and in no time all flies in a 500m radius will have found your living room!

Re: Andre's Kusamono
Hello again Andre – I’m sure Leatherback is right on the first one (and as to the smell as well!) This one looks like Stapelia hirsuta to me. The second is certainly a Rhodohypoxis. I would have guessed Rhodohypoxis baurii, but you indicate that this one is from the Langeberg Mountains and R. baurii is from the Drakensberg Mountains. It’s been decades since I was in South Africa, but my recollection is that these two ranges are not proximal, so it is likely a species other than baurii.
Gratias maximas tibi ago. Latine loqui coactus sum (Thanks a bunch. I have the occasional compulsion to speak Latin.) OK enough now - this is starting to seem like a papal resignation!
Yours in horticulture and in fun!

Nellie thank you, the display table comes from China. Dont know where, must be mass produced?
Ag no man David.... you know EVERYTHING!! I thought I was going to get you with the Rhodohypoxis, ...but no.
Leatherback....yes the Stapelias are banned to the outside verge of the pond, and no closer to the house!!
Thanks guys, and Nellie

Andre,
The color of the little pot has harmony with the lovely yellow flowers and the foliage,
when this one gets bigger it will be outstanding.
The richness of the humble.
Please continue your post of those lovely accents.
I enjoy looking at them.
Is this orchid as you say?

Oh, please André, stop whining!
Here is another compliment. I like the small flowers, I do not know the fragrance but I hope it goes well with their image and I do like very much the displaying composition.
What's playing on the grammophone?
Which is the title of the book? Is it a novel?

A remembrance of a sunday afternoon with your grandparents.
Remarkable how the wooden flowerpot inclines with the flowers to the gramophone, they reach to each other over that hat and bible(?) while the leaves even cover them.
Flagrance and music together talking to the head.. and taking over?
This all in a well polished wooden surrounding.
Lovely the color of the flowers and the color of the bookmarker are already the same.

The Orchid smells like a French sweeti shop.
The Book is what they use to call a 'Pulpit Bible'.(kansel Bybel)
They put it on the Pulpits open, and then put a smaller bible on top of it. There is nothing in it except the front page. The rest is empty, blank pages. I wanted to write a story in it when I was young, I never got past ....In the beginning......
Sunip, you are the most observant person on IBC, bless you.
Jag, you still havent given me a compliment, instead you wine, sorry whine, ....wine is what I do after 5pm when all the staff is gone. but only Shiraz. hihihihi
there is a little bit of chocolate in the scent, you got it!
Love and light my friends

Sunip, although you are addressing to André, please allow me to say I'm not that pessimistic. I'd write "Farewell, I'm heading to Knowledge"sunip wrote:... ...And on your last day you use the last page,

Yes....Full Circle, thats what I thought 'O' meant.
One should put here....Return to Sender.
Just for the Record, This Kisamono is still in the house, I brought it inside on the 8th that is 18days till today, I suspect it will go back to the Glass house on Monday. I only watered it once In all this time.
What Indoor flower or Ikabana or accent will last this long? None. Isnt it amazing!
