How to prepare seeds for planting in spring

Need some help.
I want to try and start some trees from seed. Can you please advise what method works for CARPINUS TURCZANINOVII(Red leaf Hornbeam)?
I have heard to just put them outside in a grow box or place them in some dirt and put them in th fridge for 120 days.
Suggestions are needed.
