Re: japanese maples
Bugs and Fungus are two different issues and usually require two different systems of attack.
For Fungus I use a commercial product called Subdue in granular form.
I have not had bugs on my Maples.

John: I will reply tomorrow with a granular systemic that I use on my trees that has been very effective in the past...can't remember the name off the top of my head.
"....a long five days...." Oh my gosh, I forgot to ask about your power situation in my reply earlier....are you still without power? I hope and pray that you will be getting it soon...what horriffic storms in our beautiful state last Friday! Hope that you and your family did not sustain injury and that your property and house did not sustain any damage as well.

Re: japanese maples
Thank God no one was hurt, John....a blessing for you and your family....I hope all goes well with the insurance folks....up here in Monongalia County they referred to the event last Friday as a "Derecho" (sp.?) - bascially a wall of wind vs. a circular motion event like a tornado. We sustained some minor damage....power is still out in section of Clarksburg, just south of us....this darn heat is continuing though.
Blessings to you and your family.
Please check tomorrow on this thread...for the fungicide product if you have time.
Talk to you soon.

OK, I looked and remembered.
Fungonil and Daconil are both fungicides, I would look for a website from the manufacturer that suggests how to use them.
Cygon 2 E, I thought was off the market, here it Florida a number of commercial growers of container plants had their entire crop wiped out by Cygon 2 E and the maker paid to avoid lawsuits.

Sorry to hear you got hit so bad, luckily we did not suffer any major damage but others around us in Charlottesville are still cutting debris and waiting for their power to come back on, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hopefully the insurance process will move quickly for you.

John: I use a granular systemic fungicide called "Infuse Systemic Disease Control." The active ingredient is Thiophanate-methyl.... It has been quite effective for me over the years.
My prayers continue to be with you and your family.
