shohin ixora
Hi IBC,
...I have some shohin size trees. this is one of them. I re-potted it today after I found this 3US$ pot in a flea market yesterday. Actually I got four (4) pots for less than 20US$ bargain.. two are Japanese stone wares -10" dia, good for literati. plus another 12" dia blue glazed.

btw, the tree is ixora ...I'm hoping for a white flower soon.......or red
.

jun

Re: shohin ixora
Hi Jun,
No words for tree, I believe you will do your usual magics on it.
However, (but, but, but)... I did not like this pot somehow
because my eyes stop on it, and starts to examine the figures on pot instead of tree
What do you think?

Ha! Baobab style?
Fantastic tree Jun, as always
However, that bo... pot
will look better with kusamono I think... Maybe campanula alpina, or something like that.
Anyway, bottle harmonises perfectly :p

Jun,
Is your plan to develop this as a broom? I think it would also be nice in a more shallow/wider oval. Maybe a yellow or blue depending upon the flowers.
The pot is interesting....its got an English country scene painted on it..???

I can't stop staring at the water bottle. LOL. Just Kidding buddy.
I'll be curious of your response on the pot as well, but from my understanding, shohin bonsai can pull off elaborate pots. Because of their size they need something more to command your attention. Is this true? Pot connoisseurs, can you elaborate???
Have a great week!!!!

Thank guys!
As for the pot, yes it got an English landscape motif. The deep pot is needed for health reason. As for the aesthetic aspect, I am hoping to get a good color contrast when the small tree blooms.

Neil,
yes sir! a broom style with a touch of Baobab trunk...short and stocky. then imagine it with small flowers.
regards,
jun
Sam,
that is correct.
...I specifically selected that bottle of water for it's color to match the pot.

jun
Akhater,
thanks!
yes I have some older pictures, I'll show it to you later.

Re: shohin ixora
Jun,
Judging by leaf shape, it's either yellow or red. Leaves on white and pink are different.
Warm regards,
Jose Luis
