Crab Apple Progression

Need to know if I should prune the branches that have grown back ?? some of them are about a foot long now not quite as big as a pencil .. thanks take care john

Hi John.

What I am doing here is to grow the branch until it reach the desired branch thickness,and only then I cut it back. It you cut now the tree/branch would lose its momentum and you would start growing branch again then the process of attaining good branch size would me much slower.
