Electronic Notebook
Here's something else I'm looking for that may not exist. First I would like to find out if it does, then I'll worry about whether I can afford it.
I used to carry around 6 x 9 inch (15 x 23 cm) notebooks with my bonsai & orchid records in them, but that became too cumbersome. I wonder if there is an electronic equivalent. The screen would have to be at the very least 4 x 6 inches, 6 x 9 would be better. It would be a read-only to carry in my purse or tote-bag. The information would be down-loaded from my Mac. Total number of records maximum would probably not exceed 80, two or three pages plus a photo, although some of the orchid pedigrees run to several pages. Is there any such thing, & about how much would it cost?

Re: Electronic Notebook
Check tablets. They will do that and a lot more. Older version can be had for cheap sometimes.
Check this...no sound but you MIGHT get it for cheap because of it.

Since you already have a Mac and if you have either a iPhone or iPad there is a database programs called bento that would probably work pretty good for what you need. The Mac version and mobile versions sinc over wifi. I havnt used either version so I don't make any claims on how well these work but they do have pretty good ratings.
The Mac version looks like it costs $50 and the mobile versions look to be $10 or less.

Re: Electronic Notebook
1. Get an iPad and the app Bonsai Album from http://andrewnicolle.com/
2. OneNote for PC and iPad
I use both and each has plus and minus.

It's much easier to transfer data from a Mac to Mac, then it is to transfer Mac to IBM, especially photo's. So a IPhone or iPad would be easier to repopulate with your data, not to mention the ease of use.
Depending on your cell phone carrier, AT&T usually buy any non-ATT contrac and make you a great deal on a IPhone, I got mine for about $50.00usd
Good luck

Thank you for the suggestions. We're not in the market for an iPhone or iPad at present. The Android seems worth pursuing, but not that particular one. Sound? No, I don't need sound. My plants holler at me enough as it is.

Re: Electronic Notebook
One alternative worth considering would be an old iPod Touch, second-hand from ebay. A low-end model (8GB, 2nd generation onwards) would do the job for you, if you can live with the screen size - think of it as a miniature iPad. As you're a Mac user, it's going to be a better experience than an android device in terms of compatibility with your existing stuff.bonsaisr wrote:We're not in the market for an iPhone or iPad at present
