casuarina nedles dying
I collected a casuarina from the field about 3 months ago . About two weeks ago it was looking great with a little bunch of needles growing. Suddenly they all start to dye. The temperature over here is from 95 to 102 could that be a factor.

If the casuarina is not stablished yet. There is always a tendency for it to die back. I hope you totally defoliated and cut back the branches when you first planted it 3 months ago. I hope I am wrong....but it is dying and it is a sign of drying up. this is my experience with the specie that died after collecting- First it will give you a very active mode with all the new shoots and "needles" that will become branches later, will it "seems" to be establish after a couple of weeks or sometimes months....then all of a sudden it started to die back, for no apparent reason at all, at least there seems to be no problem.
When I looked up the Uprooted tree,,,I found out that no sufficient roots grew to take nutrients to support the new growth. Sometimes it also happens to Phempis acidula. I think, just a logical explanation for this behavior is that all the growths that took place from the previous period came from the existing substance that the tree originally has. and when all of these substance is gone without the roots formed, no nutrients or lack of enough water will slowly dehydrate the tree.

Any tips in collecting. I did everything that you say. I cut everything and it didn't have any needles. I hope as you say its just loosing the needles because of the hot weather. Any suggestions at the time of collecting and after treatment to ensure survive of the three.
