hi,
I have a vitex that came from thailand, a few years ago.
I live in england.
Could someone give me some basic advise.

1. Does it prefer Acid, Neutral or Alkaline Soil conditions.
At the moment it is kept in Akadama, grit and peat.

2 Water, does it need to be constantly moist, or dry out before watering.
It nearly always gets rain water.

3 Shade, partial shade or full sun.
It is kept in a hothouse/greenhouse.

4 Is there any special techniques for pruning, best time etc.
it seems to suffer die back after i prune it.

5 what sort of feed does it prefer and how strong.

I am struggling with this tree, and it is a shame at it has a nice trunk about 7 inches Diameter and 36 inches high.

I see you've posted the same question on another thread. Can I assume from that you've done a full Search as your best bet is one of the posters of existing threads? I'd hope John Leonard comes in here as he knows the differences and issues that the climate differences will make.

For the benefit of other posters, please note that gungadin (a real name would be very helpful) lives in London, England and not in Thailand - quite a whole other climatic ball game for growing vitex I'd think.

I'm curious to hear opinions on this species as a viable candidate for bonsai. I know where there's a Colonial Blue Vitex that has a good form, but I just really don't know enough about them to know whether it's a poor choice and not worth my time or a great start.

Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

Hey Jesse.

You're talking about a totally different species of Vitex. Our friends here from Thailand and The Philippines are working with something completely different.

WOW Shocked

That looks like an Elm and a Lonicera had some red-headed kids with compound leaves on steroids. That's what I love about this forum...always something different and cool from elsewhere to see and learn from. Thanks, y'all.
