Sugarberry (Celtis Laevigata)
During our annual bonsai club picnic I won a med/large Sugarberry in a very nice pot (will post images later). It had belonged to a long time member who recently passed away. A number of the branches are very straight and do not have the ramification I would like to see.
Does anyone have experience with this type of tree? I know that it does not heal well and thus suffers from branch and trunk rot wherever large cuts are made. I wonder if it back buds well. I know it's a fast grower, but if I'm not going to get good ramification out of it anyway then I'll just leave it as is.
Anyway, the question is does this tree back bud well.
Thanks,
Ed
