I've posted this oak before, but since I was working on it and shot a new picture, I may as well post it again
It was collected (legally) about 20 years ago in the California coastal hills near Monterey.
Height including the Dale Cochoy pot is 38 inches.

Helo Mike. I remember this from your previous post and a disscusion about the swelling at the base of this and other Oaks. I would prefer to see the new pic on the older thread to see the progress. Can you tell me about your photography please. The background is very black. Is it a box ? I am very interested.

Will, the background is a matte black photo backdrop that is at least 90 percent non reflective. It sucks up light like a black hole in space. Almost impossible to get a shadow, no matter what light is used.

Mike. Is this a studio photo or outdoors?

I guess you could call it a "studio photo" since my garage is my studio. I have a setup consisting of the background and a white windowshade on each side to reflect light to the subject. Sometimes I use the camera flash to trigger slave strobe lights for balanced lighting. This shot was taken with the overhead flourescent lights and ambient light coming in from the open garage door. The camera was tripod mounted. The camera is an Olympus E 30 DSLR with a 12-60 zoom lens.

The link is to an earlier photo of the oak.
