Development of a larch
This is one of my larches that from the very beginning posed certain design difficulties with its horn shaped upper part of the trunk. The first photo dates back to 2006.
This is how it looks today after my humble attempts to "hide" this unsightly curve. The real jinning is yet to be done and the pot is far from being final...
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions regarding its future development.
Thanks,
Andrei Darusenkov

From the image, it looks as if it has a bit of reverse taper. I'm not sure if that's real, or just the photo. If real, I'd want to take some of the thickness out of the first bend to even the disparity between lower and upper trunks lines just a bit.
But otherwise, I like it. And I think that "unsightly curve" actually makes the tree.

Andrei--nicely done! And if I may say just one thing; if this were my tree I might tilt the trunk to the right slightly @ the next repot.

Michael, thanks! Unfortunately, there is some reverse taper that can be reduced only visualy as you suggest. Thanks again, Andrei

Gregb, thanks! I will definitely do this at the next transplant. I guess I will be playing with tilting this tree for the rest of my time! )

Andrei,
I just noticed on Walter palls blog that he has a spruce with a very similar main trunk. Although slightly different it has a similar "slingshot appearance. I thought his pic might give you some inspiration. Below is the link. Enjoy.

Thanks, Todd! I guess I'll try to do something similar but in reverse order. I mean in Walter's jin is in the front, while my larch has its jin in the back!
Walter's trees are very often inspirational!
Thanks again! Actually I don't remember seeing this Walter's spruce before!
Best,
Andrei
