Bark enhancement Empty Bark enhancement

Post  colin mackness Sun Oct 02, 2016 11:11 am

HI everyone,
Can anyone suggest a product to enhance the colour of the bark on my Yew.I have carvings on one of the twinned trunk tree which I have treated with lime sulpur and wish to make the contrast more dramatic by treating the bark.My initial thought would be linseed oil,am I on the right track?
Cheers Colin

has the bark been removed such as we see on some junipers that are oiled to enhance the rusty reds against the stark white of the deadwood ?

if so, i was advised to use chamomile oil

Hi Kevin
Thanks for replying. That is exactly the look I am after, though as the second trunk of the tree was dead I have hollowed it out,if I get a chance tomorrow I will post a picture.Chamomile oil sounds good.
Thanks again
Colin

colin - might be a good idea to address that first...

the chamomile oiling might be something you do for a show...
i dont know that it should be kept in a perpetual state of "oiled"
(but i could be wrong...)
