Casuarina Information Empty Casuarina Information

Being down in Australia we love our Casuarina. This tree is now widley used in many areas from Florida to the Tropics. I grow mine in a Temperate climate from minus 5 deg to +45 deg Celsius.
Some of mine are at a more refining stage but I seem to have stalled. I have found it hard to find a complete care guide for them from when to repot and such but especially on the pruning side. I would love it if some of the more accomplished in this species could help with some information.
I remember Robert Steven saying something about them growing strong as long as you leave a growing tip. I figure this is similar to the juniper but not sure?

Have you gone to our Home page and used Google to search this site? Dorothy and others have provided quite a bit of info on various Casuarina techniques over the years.

Moving to Bonsai Questions.

I'm curious how people get around them being an invasive species in Florida. Isn't it illegal to transport or propagate them in any way?

Illegal to sell or transport for selling. They're always happy to have you dig them up, and those sold as bonsai are to expensive to be simply planted in the yard.

Thank you all, Think I have a few things to try. For one I have been treating somewhat like many of our other natives on a low phosphorus diet. Just hasn't been as vigorous since it was in the bonsai pot, last three years. Was worst this year turning yellow and it didn't respond to extra iron like the other natives either when that happens. Sheep poo was suggested, although I didn't have that I tried chook poo and also went back to general fert and it has mostly regained all its colour. I will let it grow out this season and try again next year.
It was collected inland so not sure how salt will go, although some inland soils are high in salt here so guess it still makes sense.
