How to deal with a stump? Empty How to deal with a stump?

Hi, I am a newbie  and have managed to rescue about 10 tree stumps from a skip during September 2013.
The stumps had little or no fine roots, I washed, cleaned and potted up the stumps in a open mixture of compost   crushed granite and course sand/gravel. Now its October green shoots have appeared, autumn is upon us, I am located in the United Kingdom, What do I do next? .

I think the trees are Escollonia Macarantha, though I am not too sure, and were part of a hedge.
I will post more pictures soon.

Added picture of how the original stump looked before it was separated into a few stumps I am hoping for a directional guide from club members all ideas and comments will be gratefully received.

I hope you have some SERIOUS carving bits. This looks like it'll require many hours throwing sawdust about! Cool stump.

Nice find, if you can keep it alive. I don't know your climate, but if you can keep the tree from bitter winds, and super low temps, that would be good. The shoots will probably die anyway, but there may be enough stored energy in the roots for next year to make new ones. I hope that you have this in a free draining tub, if it stays too wet, the roots that you have will rot.
Good luck with it.
