pine trees
I live in Naples,FL and want to know all species of pine that will thrive here. I do not have a pine in my collection and would love to have one. Steve

Re: pine trees
Native pines:
Sand pine (P. clausa).
Slash pine (P. elliottii)
Longleaf Pine (P. palustris) - just barely
Some commercial cultivars of Japanese black pine (P. thunbergii 'Somethingorother') (Check local nurseries -- NOT box store nurseries.)

Re: pine trees
I can grow Black Pine here on the Space Coast but I am quite a distance north of Naples. I have not found the native pines very satisfactory.

pine trees
thanks Billy, the slash and the sand pine are not that appealing. Is there any special care with black pine in your area?

Re: pine trees
I work the root area only in Jan. It helps to slightly over pot in well drained soil.
