This is the only image I have of my Japanese hornbeam, Carpinus japonica. It's from 2005. I grew it from a pencil sized seedling. I have to get out and take more pics!

Here's my big American hornbeam, collected in 2010. Trunk base is 6" above the root crown, root spread 12". It was originally chopped at 18" and I'm working on building taper in the apex. I figure this is about a 5-year project, and it'll probably take 10 years to get the right proportions in the branches. But there's no hurry.
