Small Local Show

Hi Folks,
Just wanted to share a couple photos from our local clubs first show/demo, held a couple weeks ago (Campbell River Bonsai Club). We are a very small club (12 reg. members) and wanted to try to encourage more folks to join us. So we quickly gathered our members together with some trees and hosted a meet and greet show - it was on the same weekend as the local Arts club show and the annual chain saw carving contest (Transformations on the shore). These events usually get great attendance so we were hoping that this would offer a great hord of people to visit our little portion of Sybil Andrews cottage garden......unfortunately, the weather gods didn't co-operate (rained all day) so attendance was down significantly. However we all had a great time and did meet and a few folks that did brave the weather..... that may even join our group.

Well I heard that Anton had some nice hemlocks. I guess its true! I hope to someday make it up to campbell river for a meeting and to see if I can get one of those nice hemlocks.

Hi Curtis, you could always come up to the Pacific Northwest Bonsai Club Associations 20th Annual Convention being held in Victoria BC, October 2nd-4th 2009...... as I know he's going to have some of his collection there. He's got some in all shapes and sizes and some real monsters, he's also got a great selection of collected shore Pine (pinus contorta contorta).

I am going to make it up the show to some capacity. I have gone to Vancouver Island Bonsai Clubs website and Im a little confused as to how everythings going.

Awesome to see some west coast canucks putting on a show. I'm from the Toronto area and am absurdly jealous of your mountains and climate. I hope I can move out there one day

Actually there are quite a few shows that take place in the Vancouver area.

I don't doubt it, but I rarely see them on this forum, and would love to see more!
