Kamagong is Ebony Persimmon and is an extremely hard wood. Japanese pays a premium for furniture made of those. It makes nice fighting sticks (arnis) or police truncheon as well. It is sad that some Filipinos just use it to make charcoal. Sorry, the (hobby) woodworker in me kicked in.
The rock is awesome.

Kabayan Sonny,
Where are you in the Philippines? My family came from Ilocos and Pampanga but I grew up in Manila. As a child, I remember us buying charcoal and kamagong is the preferred variety.

Hi Sancho,
Your stone is nice.
Can you tell me how to look for stones in Philippines? Last time during the ASPAC convention in Manila, there was a vendor selling good stones. But I could not find it later on.

Helo Sonny.
As you know, on a daiza there is normally no water used in the pool of the stone.
How about a dark colored larger oval suiban with sand?

hi sunip,
first time i saw this i was really really amaze,i told my self is this true? we all know about the fossills, but this one its all natural stone...by the way the size of the stone is (LxHxW) 5in x 3.75in x 2.75in.i acquired this stone from a friend a native here in the phil. he painted the stone with a varnish, i am panning to clean this and make a daiza,,im so excited to post this and share it with you all pls enjoy and think....is this a proof of a supreme being?
best regards,,

These are obviously fossilized shells imbedded in the material that eventually turned into stone. Nice way how they got exposed though.
