That is a very creative design. The bottom pad being pulled down all the way to the soil level is very cool. I can't recall ever seeing that done before. But now that I have seen it I have a similar (but much smaller and younger) JBP that I've grown from seed that I might try a similar idea. Thanks and good job.

Re: Pine line ....
thats looking really interesting..........are you planning for the bottom pad to root into the pot?

Re: Pine line ....
Don't know really, the bottom branch have been graffted in the back of the trunk. Maybe i will cut it latter at the top to make jïn if it work.
Not sure, i like it like it is. Time will tell...

Very neat tree! I like the direction your taking. What is your intended front view? To me it looks best in photo #6.
Funny, I hadn't even noticed that foliage way down at the bottom until someone mentioned it. Don't think it adds anything and might actually become distracting as it develops. But as you say, you can always remove it later.

Re: Pine line ....
because i ve seen the tree in real
i can tell you the branch on the pot is really wonderfull...a strong point of the tree
its would be a pity to remove it
this branch remains the ones you can often see in mountain....creeping on the ground
and i think that law don t want to remove it
but maybe if the graft works cut the long branch up the graft and make a jin with it
anyway...a tree moves in the time...we all know that
i love this tree...lapin

Hello Law,
This tree tells me a dramatic story of survival and dignity.
I love it, as Cram says this tree will be getting better as time passes.

Re: Pine line ....
What might be interesting is to transfer the tree from the round pot to a irregualr slab and have the bottom branch spread along the ground. This is a very common landscape style for a pine tree on Shikoku Island. Like I said very creative.

Re: Pine line ....
Yes, I was thinking the same thing about a slab (or rock)...think the pot is too small/symmetrical for the branch-on-ground effect to work well.

Re: Pine line ....
thumbs up, not the kind of bonsai or style i usually would like, but it seems to fit the tree, it has a pleasant feel to it, extreme but still natural

Re: Pine line ....
I love everything but the straight jin, unless you are planning to strip more bark off in the future and create a thin livevein on deadwood instead of thin deadwood on livevein. Beautiful design!
