The second one may actually be 'kozan' with an 'aka (red) kozan' branch. They are all related.

Hi Russell
Thank you very much. You made me very happy. I thought it was dark red cultivar. Colors in the photo is great. I hope it will.
Today I make photo a new tree.
Thank you .

Re: Azalea Nico ? or Nikko?
Pavel, the first picture is a VERY GOOD Nikko. I have seen others with very little variation of color, which isn't so good - but still beautiful.
Buying satsuki that aren't blooming is a gamble at best, unless you really don't care so much about the quality of the flowers. Hopefully, you're NOT working on this tree now. If it were mine, I wouldn't touch it until I saw it bloom. In satsuki it's important to remember that the design of the shading of color is as important as the design of the bonsai itself. If you're not careful you may remove the best part of the tree without even knowing it. Likewise, when it blooms you may have too much dominant red that needs to be removed.
It's always wise to study the flowering and style the tree accordingly.

Re: Azalea Nico ? or Nikko?
Thanks to Russell for the very good advice. Not now not going to work, only autumn spraying, and then prepare for the winter. I am curious about myself and I look forward to spring.
Best regards Pavel

Is that wire digging into the base of the tree? Looks like it. If so, you should remove it.

There is no way to look at that foliage and say it's Nikko. It could also be kozan, kozan no hikari, shin nikko, sachi no hana, aka kozan, nyohozan - just to name a few closely related satsuki.
It is also planted too high, and has been for a long time.
Beautiful tree, I'm eager to see it bloom.

Thats not what I ment Russel, I am no fool, just not a regular english writer.
What I ment is spelling is NIKKO not NICO.
Many of the satsuki are planted to high, dont ask me why, they just are arriving from japan.

I didn't intend to insinuate you're a fool (your word, not mine). I was responding to your post, as I understood it.

Pavel,
Take a look at pages 29 and 30 of Peter's pot thread. These are very fine satsuki and they are planted correctly. You have work ahead of you!

Thank you Russell.
Now just pick up the edge of the dish and give up the substrate. Total transplanting until next year after the flower.
