Hi,
Tell me, is it possible/preferable to defoliate a metasequoia? (I guess the spring season was a bit too short to do all the work in time )

I wouldn't do that (defoliate). Any branch that you strip bare and there's nothing else following, you're rolling the dice; either it's going to backbud like crazy or totally weaken it.
They grow really fast and need a lot of attention.

Hello Iris. Defoliation isn't just about leaf size. It's also about breaks of bud and building ramification. Don't know if this is a suitable subject though.
