My largest Pemphis
Definitely, this is the largest bantigue I have ever seen! it must weigh hundreds of kilos, one thing amazing is that you can rotate the tree with just a finger, Jolz installed a rotating device under the pot.
Rotating plants is very important for even distribution of sunlight . In my garden, all my favorite trees have revolving stands.
Congrats Jolz for this stunning tree, by the look of the trunk, it must be around 7 or 8 decades old.
best regards

Ka Pabling,
Thanks for the rough estimate. I'm leaving tomorrow for my work abroad and will be back in four weeks, I'll be missing my trees again for a month. Sorry that I will not be able to attend to your coming birthday celebration. I'll be giving you one massive Aroma as a birthday gift when I come back, this one was planted on the vacant lot south of my house; I forgot to show you last week when you were here. I'm letting the termites carve the Sharis and Jins so you'll have less time in working on this monster. I'll try to post a picture this afternoon, I'm just too busy right now.
Regards,
Jolz

As Promised, here's the picture. I planted it direct to this vacant lot after the hunt and let it grew wild.

Good observation Cram, As I have said earlier this tree has a revolving stand, what you see is actually the back, I took a pic of the front last sunday ,

Re: My largest Pemphis
so the first pictures were the back ?
and the last one is the front?
i don t understand exactly...
i prefer the nebari on the first pictures....really more powerfull...but it is were the vegetation hide the trunk(normal if it is the back )
when i see the quality of the work on this tree ...i can imagine you know exactly what you do of course
anyway...a bonsai is never finish....
and it is the pleasure in this art
i have two friends in my bonsai group who are really talentuous
do you want me to ask them a drawing for your wonderfull tree?

That would be wonderful Cram, I am sure Jolz will be very glad to have the drawings.
Youre right, bonsai is never considered finished, its a living art.

Cram: you are right! thanks for the comments, I'll try to enhance the design furthermore. When I got this tree earlier, honestly I'm still new to this craft; the design is just so so... now with the helpful tips I got from you and Ka Pabling, I will not hesitate to do the makeover... but I guess I will be brave enough to post this again in this site maybe in five years from now. Thanks.
Robert: You are the man, I envy your work eversince as you are one of the best in this field. Thanks for sharing that pic. I intend to visit Jakarta one of this days as one of my boss in Oil and Gas in the middle east ( Pak Fery Efinde ) invited me to visit his place. Maybe by that time I will be able to see personally your collections. Thanks again for sharing your views. Long live IBC.
Thanks and regards to everyone,
Jolz

Re: My largest Pemphis
raaaa robert!
cool! that s exactly what i was thinking about!
this tree is really graphic and the power is also in the disposition of the branches and foliage
well ..jolz i had one of my two friends for the moment..laurent
he told me he will make something tomorow ...
maybe can you put a picture of the trunk line where the nebari is nice(the closed face actually)?
it will be easyer to see the graphics details you could put in evidence and echos with branches
...it is very nice to see nice tree like this
it almost doesn t exist in france....
thank you...
ps: after laurent and herve made you their drawings
i will make one also....but it will be quite less intense ..i think

Re: My largest Pemphis
Dorothy, I like your virt but I,m also considering Crams design plus the pic that robert has posted( although the branches in the pics are more matured and better than mine). I have to think it over. Thank you very much for that wonderful ideas you all shared. I'll be doing the rework after a month once I'm back from my tour of duty. ( I'm currently in the airport waiting for my flight to board)
Again, thanks to all who responded and god bless ( Ka Pabling included),
Jolz

Re: My largest Pemphis
Nice virts. I can't wait to see this tree after some work in one of those directions. I totally agree with the direction of changing the front to that side as the trunk is just incredible from that angle--a major improvement once the foliage has been reworked a bit.

Re: My largest Phempis
When I first saw this phempis 8 days ago, I already had some suggestion to jolz but I did not have the courage to say it for several reasons,
1.He and I hardly knew each other, that was our first meeting
2.My suggestion was a bit drastic
3.I was afraid that if he hears my views, he might fall off his chair
4.If he falls off his chair, he might break the very very expensive bottles of wine in front of us
5. and some other reasons that can not be said here
.
So Jolz, now that you and I know each other better, if you are willing to hear my suggestion just say so and promise not to shot me in the head,(IBC will be witness that you promised) and curse me .forever
best regards
