Re: AROMA (acacia farnesiana)
George,
remember no experiments on the mother plant.
You should have some cuttings or other victims.
Well what are you teaching yourself -----------------
[1] Branch extension to see if you can thicken the trunk and when to stop.
[2] Do you have to airlayer the base to get good root placements ?
Or does the prime effort already have them ?
[3] Have you located mature trees to study for interesting features, that you can add to your plant.
How to get them ?
Rough bark, dense branching, flowers ........................
[4] Response to soil mix ? Type of fertiliser - strength, how often - response - please take notes - you will forget.
[5] Decay, how durable is your heartwood, healing of wounds, insect problem?
[ heartwood durability normally takes around 50 years - do you really want to experiment with wood hardeners ?]
Keep observing and taking notes.
Have an image posting problem ? Images help. Start your own topic.
I grew the acacia f. back in the 90's, killed by fire, it was in open ground on an estate.
Easy to grow, liked porous, well drained soil.
Search the Internet for examples as Bonsai.
Hope this helps.
Laters.
