the cycle of life
I've had this juniper tanuki for more than 10 years. its brought me and others much pleasure over its life. I decided awhile back to eventually deconstruct the planting - style something new with the juniper and save the gorgeous deadwood for another project. the demise of the old giving rise to the new. the series of pictures takes you through the before and after of the juniper's first styling as a stand alone tree. not nearly as impressive at this point as it was in its tanuki life, but there is a bonsai in the future. after the tree recovers, the plan is to plant it leaning over a lava slab.
best wishes, sam
