Burning bush leaf prunning
I have a few Burning bushes (euanomous sp??) one in the ground and one in a pot. Over the last 4-5 years I have not managed to get any second flush of growth out of this years growth. I can get dormate buds to pop all over and out of the base but not from this years growth. I have not tried to completly leaf prune but am wondering if this is typical of this species or just specific to the care and conditions mine is getting?
Any insite?
Thanks,

Re: Burning bush leaf prunning
Robert,
I have one and have had success getting a second flush after pruning. I didn't like the development and I prefer waiting until spring just before buds pop to give it a maintenance prune and unwanted bud removal. I could perhaps do this in the fall but the new buds are still dormant and I don't really see where I want to go. This year I am letting everything grow for branch development and thickening.
