Premna...Styling...

When I got this material from a local nursery, it was planted straight up showing nothing interesting except the deadwood...but I saw the hidden potential....

Try to find new pose by re-positioning...

Final decision. I put the dummy-branches to visualize the programming plan for the ramification. Thanks to Premna that I can expect shoots from the spots I wish.....

Again, thanks to Premna that the leaves can be reduced significantly from 8 cm to 2 mm....

Anybody know any good sites to buy premna online? Or personal ?

Sam in Hawaii has quite few very nice Premna from Indonesia, but I don't think he will sell because it's hardly can ship plants now...

can you please share with us :
1. what methods are you using to achieve such an amazing reduction in leaf size ? ( special ferilizer ? defoliating ? small pots ? full sun exposure ? low watering ? netural ramification ? )
2. how many years does it take ?
3. if it involves putting the tree in stress how do you make sure it will stay healthy ?
4. were you able to achieve such results in other tree species ? if so which species ?

The reduction performs along with the forming of ramification structure. The better structure you do (with more twigs ofcourse), the smaller the leaves will reduce. Premna is growing very fast..most of my Premna bonsai are achieved within 4 years from the raw material.

I love your tree! There is so much movement in the trunk. I can only imagine how it will look in a few years. Your virtual is great. I love the contrast of textures in the trunk.
