Tapering How To Help Please

Can anyone point me in the direction of Tapering information / techniques.

Trunks are as thick as the foliage requires them to be. Foliage on a low branch will only help thicken the trunk from that low branch until the roots.
Same with high branches. They will thicken the whole trunk below them.

This means you need low branches to develop taper.

Trunk chopping in itself will also create taper because the new leader won't be as thick as the old one.
