Oak in the Rain
We are havng a major rain storm in the San Francisco Bay Area today. One of the most unusual aspects was a tornado warning about 20 miles south of my location. Good luck! It didn't happen!! A tornado in California is a VERY rare occurance.
The image is a Coast Live Oak on a shelf just outside my back door, sitting happily in the rain.
Height from pot rim is about 14 inches. This tree is a "sumo" style.

Re: Oak in the Rain
At least your getting rain Mike, we're already in a drought and it's only March. My trees are craving rain I'm sure instead of this simple tap water stuff. I can see the difference right away in their foliage whenever we do get rain. I'm starting to dread this coming summer with a
passion.
passion.

Re: Oak in the Rain
Mike,
Sumo, and a waterfall, with trees as a crown of glory for the mountain.[ memories of Sunip -chuckles]
Is that some sort of grey lava or granite ?
And is it the soil mix or just a dressing ?
Thanks for showing.
Thomas,
down here I am hoping that rains are finally gone. Nothing is going as it should, will have to re-do the defoliation on some of the plants, as the leaves came in large. Also the soil didn't get to age as it normally does and I got moss springing up everywhere with touches of slime and other nasties.
The tiny terror from the skies went into high gear, might be a South American cardinal, earth red and with a mate in blue black. Moss flying everywhere. The protective fibre glass mesh is on and life goes on.
Until.
Khaimraj
* Bright moon out tonight with very dramatic clouds.

The top dressing is black lava.
As I write this, it's a little after 9 pm in California. There is a BIG bright moon in the sky.

Re: Oak in the Rain
Khaimraj ,
I'm sure you've heard the saying " one mans junk is another mans treasure". Send some of that rain my way. I haven't caught up yet from last summers drought when I had cracks in my yard where if you didn't watch where you were going you could get hurt from them.
So dry that the soil pulled away from my main water supply line and I woke up to a flood in my front yard and a nice big water bill to go with
it.
