Mohan, Ravi,

these are imported from India. Soapstone, very soft but can be fired hard and glazed as well. Note they come in all shapes and sizes. As soapstone one can carve, and add on feet, and then fire.

How to read the image - the pink interior with glaze is a fired and finished pot. The pink cover shows how the colour changes. Some of the soapstone pieces are too beautiful to fire so, the 2 that are dark and glossy are keepers. The elephant one shows how the main body could become a pot , as can the cover.
One showing the fired pot in use, as a test. Works, no decay. Talc is only fired to 1100 deg.c so it is porous enough to accept the glaze.

Lastly, the baby blue glazed earthenware deya is just for fun.

I shall keep collecting shapes and probably when I have time just carve up some decoration.

Thought you might find the idea interesting.
Khaimraj

*Glazes are just Duncan and Gare, low fire faux stoneware or garden glazes.
