Hi Nice and simple tree. If the attempt is to create a weeping style as your last pic shows, IMHO you might not succeed as the leaves and their size will play spoilsport....

A very tricky species to do well with, as they abort branches unpredictably. They are relatively short lived too. A careful eye must be kept on watering, as it is one of those "I dry, I die" trees. You've made a very nice start. I hope this one behaves well for you.

Yes, the birch trees tend to drop branches. Dry, they may never be.

I don't think I've seen a weeping specimen before in a bonsai pot, you do nice work

What time of year do you prune? I know birches dieback easy, but it looks like you have had success.

I cut the branches back in the summer easily. Thick branches only in winter

The first birch approx 75cm high, the second approx 45cm high.

She's looking very nice with the new pot!

I am really struck by the elegant feminine in this composition.

Wonderful in the summer with the leaves and fantastic in winter outfit.
