Carpinus orientalis progression 2010/2011
Hy Sebastijan,
Three majestic trees, really treasures.
I am looking forward to their development,
and in a few years their appearance at Noelanders.
We where thinking they jumped in to your car there in Croatia.
So now after your video on yamadory we have to believe how much trouble you guys have collecting?
regards, Sunip

Well, Sunip, I was able to show you on video only collection of two small and easy to collect trees. For bigger trees a lot more blood has to be spilled...a lot more.sunip wrote:Hy Sebastijan,

I will try to show you something like that next time, in a few days possibly and hopefully

Hy Sebastijan,
You lucky guys.
We do not have such collecting fields in Holland.
I also used that pulling tool you showed us, sometimes you just need more power.
You never consider to collect nice material but with revers taper and start new roots by layering?
Or is it just for the reason that there are still enough good ones out there?
regards, Sunip

Yes mate, that's the reason.
Thousands of exquisite trees out there...of course, if someone knows how and where to find them. Believe it or not, there are people in Croatia who cannot find a decent yamadori and live a few hundred meters from it

DaveV,
I use floreopor, that is just some kind of expanded clay granules that are crushed on pieces with uneven and sharp edges. Sometimes, but only sometimes I throw in it a fistfull of peat. And that's it. No proportions, sorry.

I really want to sit down and watch one of you or Will's carving sessions. My jaw simply drops at your before and after photos. My wife has some family living in the Netherlands at the moment (until Oct or Nov) and I have considered using it as an excuse to visit with my wife--and then take some 'side' trips to watch you and a couple others in action on a tree or two. I'm so thoroughly impressed.

Enjoyed your videos!
I enjoyed your collecting video!. The best show on tv last night!
I also was able to listen to how the Croatian language sounds. Even the "Croatian Profanity"!
Thank you for creating this teaching video.
Salut, Todd
