Repotting a beech
Hello;
I just made a potting on a beech, I must leave it outside, or put it in cold greenhouse.
Thank you

Hello Pascal. Beech are fairly tough but as its only the start of February and the cold weather is far from over, a cold greenhouse, shed or garage would be a good idea.

So, this is the right time for repotting the beech.... presumably.
Or repotting could perhaps wait until end of February?
I'm asking because I have a small beech, too.....

Re: Repotting a beech
Thanks Alexandra. The best time to repot Beech is as the spear type buds start to swell and elongate. This is quite noticeable and even if the buds show a little green this is still ok. You can do this earlier but as mentioned above, be carefull about heavy frosts and give protection.

Re: Repotting a beech
Whilst I would like to get on and repot my large Beech group, in all honesty as a late developer and never all trees at the same time, I will wait until around mid to late March at the earliest, and as Will states the new growth will just be showing traces of green with plumped spear ends. Honestly? I feel it is way too early, but just an opinion.
