Shohin ficus golden coin
Here it is almost 2 years later in a much smaller oval pot from Taiko Earth and a bit of pruning. Enjoy
I did not think that this tree had any potential but it turned out to be a great lesson in patience. The tree was originally about 10 inches in height but was in poor condition and had not been styled properly. My solution was to cut it down to a 3 inch stump and start all over. After 2 years of pruning and wiring it is currently exactly 5 inches (12.7 centimeters) in height. I just recently repotted it into the container that you see.

Lazaro,
well, patience is a virtue, and is also well rewarded.
Nicely done.
Wonder if that ficus exists down here - hmmmm ???
Thanks for posting.

Lazaro,
nice work. If you can remove a few leaves to show some of the major branches as they leave the trunk I think your tree will show even better.

Thanks for your input Jerry. Brazilian raintrees and ficus are my favorite species for bonsai. I am definitely planning on defoliating this tree like I do most of my ficus in order to reduce leaf size. I will then selectively remove the leaves to reveal some of the branching. I have learned a great deal by reading your book. Thanks again
