child play (mame bonsai first styling)
Hello all,
this project have start 2-3 day ago after I'm got a book by Morten Albek from mail order, I have got full inspiretion of Shohin and decide to do somethink
I have go to the garden market in my country and got 2 young J.Procumbens. here is the first... very simple and small but it is cheap (less than 1 USD!!)
I'm try to design and think of posible style...
this is resuit... now it is hight about 10 cm, some of rest branches will turn to Jin in future.
this is secound meterial, still simple too
after clear some unnecussary and poor branches
the resuit... it is now hight about 8-9 cm, also...1-2 branches will turn to Jin in future. I'm not mess the root now, I will let it rest until avialable time.
Thank you for looking... I know it is not good meterials but I'm really fun.

Hello pongsatorn.k
I do not know, from what I see does not seem child's play on both specimens shows a very promising start, especially the second I like very much. It's a great example of what can be done with imagination and a good tehnik of said material so "weak"
Congratulations and look forward to continue over years.
Sorry for poor English.
Vasile

Re: child play (mame bonsai first styling)
Hi Pongsatorn,
Excellent transformational work on some very "NORMAL" nursery material. It is definitely not Child's Play and I am sure of that.
You have high levels of imagination and especially to visualise the drawing with the tree in front is certainly professional stuff.
Keep up the great work and do share the progression images of these wonderful trees which were earlier very ordinary trees..
Cheers
Ravi

Re: child play (mame bonsai first styling)
I think you have managed to turn what people would consider average material into the nucleus of two quite nice small trees. One of the main advantages of working with the smaller tree sizes (mame and shohin) is that you do not have to worry as much about trunk thickness as you would for larger bonsai. This lets you use material that would otherwise not be considered for creating good larger trees. A large part of our art - creating the illusion of age - is about relative proportions after all. Having Morten's book will be a great help to you - I find it inspiring and helpful.
Keep going with these two trees. You may be surprised just how well they turn out in a reasonably short space of time.

Re: child play (mame bonsai first styling)
I'm will give the reason to do this project.
I'm love conifer especial the juniper, in Thailand we can not go out to yamadori them bacause it is not local tree.
most junipers are come from garden center and it form often not twist. interested juniper are twist and I got an idea to twist them when they still young. the young juniper are easy to wires and it take wires, some time wire when them young it take long time to got meterial to work as chohin or mediem bonsai, this reason give answer "why I prefer to work on mame and shohin". I'm come to bonsai world not long time... it yes or no?, if the beginner need to see him,her self bonsai and not stick in the shotcut. first time I'm so worry about rootage and trunk but Fiona make me relax by not think to much about trunk for small bonsai... Thank you Fiona. rootage is very important for bonsai but some time is if it form, flower etc. work well...I think that tree not too ugly.
thank you for all,
very regard from me
