Thank you John.

when the upper branch connected to the huge branch on the right got the proper girth it will create an arch/curve like form of branch that goes with the sway of the trunk.

Great Tree Jun.

After looking at the initial set of pics I wanted to suggest that you either bend down the branches or tilt the tree as the angle at which the branches were, did not convey the image of a very convincing windswept tree.

In the later set of pics, I am glad that you could see the same area of improvement and have tilted the trunk to lower the angle of the branches. Great tree and a very convincing design.

John,

thanks. The trunk is really old, but the branches are less than a year old. a couple of more years and it will catch up with the trunk.

Hi Budi,

Yes sir it is the one, we also call it here "kamuning Bilog". "bilog" means circular, because of the shape of leaves.

Wonderful.

Windswept is a style that I feel, more often than not, is done badly. However, you have really created a very convincing scene.

Well done.

I do not think that it is of a muraya family, anyhow. Did you get the name from the horticulture in Philippines?

Thanks Ed.

this tree got a good trunk character, and well tapered, that i was planning to make it an slanted tree... but I can't help it to make it the way it is now. I'm glad you like it.

Well, that would be something new! all along, the shows and books here tagged the specie under murraya.
I guess I got to do more research now.

thanks Budi.

Well done Jun, I like your styling of this tree very much. When looking at your second last pic, I had a very strong sense of a tree struggling for a toe hold atop a very exposed coastal cliff, I can almost feel the salt spray and hear the howling of the wind......

Jun,
Well done. I agree with Ed that windswept trees are more often than not a sad attempt to add interest to an otherwise boring tree, and often poorly done. Yours really conveys a strong impression. I really like the styling here. Bravo.

Todd,
thanks.
...IMHO-just like any other design, wind swept and literati deserves a good foundation, that is a good trunk and nebari and not just reject trees and yamadori not suitable for the other designs.

jun
