Re: Murraya upright
Howzit Jun,
You have a nice tree but IMHO, the pot seems a bit small for the tree. Also, it looks like it's potted a little high. In the originally pot the way it was it had enough room and the nebari looks more natural. If your happy with it then it doesn't matter. It's just my opinion.

Re: Murraya upright
Hi Jun, lovely tree but I agree with Tim about the pot. Definitely appeared better in the original.

For IBC and Andrija- into the new pot
Me as well Jun. Too high in the pot and the pot is slightly too small.

Re: Murraya upright
...so the first pot really does matter with you guys. thank you. il probably find a bigger one, with the same glazed color. we got so limited pot resources here. the first pot is a concrete pot, and not a good one for permanent use. this tree is ready for its long term pot.

Re: Murraya upright
Hi Jun,
I think the tree looks more majestic, and powerful in the new pot, maybe just move the tree a cm to the left,
like the others, just my opinion,

I think that best pot would be some combination between this pot and old pot ... some wider but shallower pot.

John,
thanks.
in my own observation, any of the two pot would do.
with the first pot a more peaceful and gentle environment was conveyed and the second pot setting conveys a powerful and dominating tree as you too had observe, thats why i raised the tree higher to the soil line. il try to merge the two concept. i love both.

Re: Murraya upright
Howzit Jun,
Also I would like to add if I may about the second pot. To me the tan rim of the pot seams to fight for attention from the tree. If the pot was all one color then maybe it would be O.K. To me, a bonsai pot should be as one with the tree. To work as one unit. Again, that's my opinion.

Aloha Jeeperrs and welcome to the forum. It is a nice tree and as you learn more about bonsai you will know how to match trees with pots. This is a great forum to learn about bonsai so please ask a lot of questions. We are here to help.
