Re: Soil PH
I don't know if this would work or not but in the fish trade they have ph test strips you can get and mabye put it in to the soil for a few minutes then remove and see .They are not as reliable as the chemical tests but it would be worth a try .I know if you run water throught the pot the ph will be slightly influenced by the ph of the water you are using for example the ph of ro water is slightly acidic where most tap water is ph neutral and some well water is alkaline to acidic so I would test the water you are using and try to find some that is ph neutral then you could form a base line to test from.

Re: Soil PH
It is possible to buy fairly inexpensive soil probes that show pH, if you use test strips, just get some distilled water (neutral pH) stir some soil in the water and test.
