Small garden, but beautiful trees !
We can't have such healthy ficus and trees with so nicely woven roots where I live. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice work. Definitely a case for growing Benjamina fig in tall trunk, somewhat weeping leaves style to mimic being near water, coastline. Dustin Mann

DALAT – VIETNAM . BONSAI GARDEN IN NARROW SPACE AND NO SOIL AS GROWN ORCHID
Hi friends , thanks for sharings.
His Azalea bonsais are about 15 years old. He have grown bonsai based on ideas such as :
1/ a bonsai is not always an old tree , but a tree trained to resemble an old years tree , has natural view and must be art. Because , to own many old bonsais , you must have much money or your life is over one hundred years old ,
2/ You must choose trees adapted with weather in growing place .
2/ To create a bonsai , you must understand tree life to grow it well.
3/ Only when you grew tree good , you train it become bonsai , if not do not waste time.He grew good more 15 Ajalea species but some species stop growing due to hard to live.
4/ You create bonsai according to your ideas , learning but no imitation.

I like that he is focusing on root over rock and exposed root styles .I have seen very little of the exposed root style and it is refreshing to see such examples .

Hi Seth EllwoodView , he has about 150 Ajalea bonsais ( in another place ) with many root styles and trunks . In fact , next years , root clusters will grow up to trunks and foot of tree. So , root clusters with curved line will become a curved trunk and a foot of tree. When you raise them well, the progress would be fast.

Very impressive trees. So what substrate he grows them in? Orchid mix?

These trees are very nice. I like the exposed roots. Your brother is very talented. Did he start the azaleas from cuttings? The ficus are lovely. Every once in a while, we can find ficus with air roots that are grown for the indoor lanscape scene. But they are "few and far between". In other words, it is very hard to find ficus suitable for bonsai unless you happen to live where they can be grown outdoors all year long. Or, you need lots of money, as you said.

Hi Jingal . In Dalat city , many tree Fern grew in nature , almost orchid gardeners used it to grow orchid . Soft root fibre clusters and trunk of Cibotium barometz ( maybe ) grow very good but more water and leaf fertilizer ( hard fibre fern not use ( another fern species )).
Noun. Asiatic tree fern having dense matted hairs sometimes used as a styptic.
Exact synonyms: Scythian Lamb
Generic synonyms: Tree Fern
Group relationships: Cibotium, Genus Cibotium
Fern grow good for Azalea , Ficus , Pinus , Camelia...

Hi Todd Ellis , friends . Thanks for sharing
He grow Ajalea , Camelia , Ficus … from branch cuttings and branchs not too old nor too young with substances help make roots as AIA , AIB ( or same substanes ).. But to make air root , all these must grow in fern material . You see some photos below to see that them grow good for all tree genus.

Very interesting trees.
I am very impressed that your brother can grow azaleas and camelia that far south. I am in a semitropical climate and azaleas do not live past five years in my climate.
I like his exposed root tyle trees.
Do you know hte exact variety of ficus he is growing?

Hi Rob Kempinski , hi friends .
Dalat city is a highland at 1500m on sea level . A semitropical climate in tropical zone , medium temperature is 18 - 26 degree Celcius , humide is always > 70-80% and sometimes 100%.
1/ I think that you need to choose Ajalea trees to grow :
- Ajalea trees are species with dense flower .You only grow some Ajalea Hybrid or if you grow Hybrid tree , you should choose old hybrid tree.
- I think the differences between your growing place and my growing place are temperature , humide , light... Which could be adjusted and controlled by green house.
2/ In Dalat city , many ficus species but only one scientific name , that mean , one species and many subspecies
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Urticales
Family: Moraceae
Genus: Ficus
Species: Ficus mbenghalensis synonyms: Ficus indica

GRAFTING BONSAI
Often used to combine strengths of two different plants together in one new plant. Or to add a “missing” branch to a tree or to form an entire new tree. At here , he created a spelcial bonsai tree from two different plants but basic tree with good health and grafting tree have special characters .Below, two instances he grafted as :
1/ Acer tree : Acer sp ( unknown scientific name ) grow in Dalat wild forrest , with good heath but the leafs is large and always green ( the leaf is red color about one month when them young ) . He is graft two species ( from foreign ) have leafs– medium type and small type on them . Trees grow good and in future , he has new acer bonsai .
Acer sp is basic tree
Tree ( medium leaf ) grafted
Tree ( small leaf ) grafted
2/ Prunus persica : grow for fruit and flower , tree develop high and large but plant in pot is hard to flower and fruit . In dalat , a Prunus sp miniature with trunks small and never higher 0,7m , develop slowly but grow flower , fruit easily . He graft this tree on Prunus persia , he has an entire new tree with good heath.
