I don't know how Grewia will do in your climate. It's an African native. Seems to do well in the SF Bay Area climate. I think it's a semi-tropical plant. Might suffer in a frost.

Do you know if it requires dormancy?? If not... I have a greenhouse it can overwinter in. We have a huge one at work... I overwintered a massive bougie there last winter.

I'm sure if you can manage a boug successfully, the Grewia should be no problem. Mine acts somewhat like an azalea or a boug. Buds usually form in early spring, and by May are blooming. Not this year because of the cooler than normal spring.
