Spring Update
Hello all,
This little fellow has enjoyed the recent mild weather and has flushed nicely.
Here is an old photo of when it was first repotted by the original owner, after he had air-layered the top of the tree he dug from a roadside ditch.
Cheers Graham

Summer 2014 update
Hi Folks here is an update from this week. We've had an exceptional long dry period this summer with only a small amount of rain and it triggered a re-flush so I'm trying to hold it back.
The second photo shows how I lower the main stem (an 8 Ounce Gibbs fishing weight).
Cheers Graham

Re: Shohin Azalea and Larch Spring Update
thanks for the follow up... nice light and nicer larch.
are you ground layering it ?
or just working on a better rock clasp with the roots ?

Re: Shohin Azalea and Larch Spring Update
Hi Kevin and thanks for your interest,
This is a homemade remedy ....trying to force the feeder roots lower down into the soil in the grow pot................when examining the roots in the yellow pot (orchid pot ) they were encircling the base of the pot...... so instead of trimming and repotting (into same pot) I had a vision of it within a fairly shallow pot/dish/landscape tray, so to achieve that I came up with this temporary training pot (the base of the rock is about an inch below the surface of the soil).....this way I can remove about an inch of the pot each year for the next couple of years.....which gives me time to find a suitable pot/tray.
Cheers G
