GREAT WEEKEND AT CARDIFF RHS SHOW
Hi,
On 16th, 17th and 18th of April the R.H.S spring show in Cardiff was held at Bute Park.
A welsh spring, with incredible weather for all the show.
FOBBS, (Federation of British Bonsai Societies),, put on a stand and with the help of members from Swindon and Dragon and Mark and Rita Cooper we gathered together an interesting mix of trees. On Thursday Myself Reg Bolton and his brother got stuck in and built the stand. It was then a case of selecting and positioning the trees.
Friday morning was the judging and we were awarded a Silver Gilt, missing out on the Gold for reasons which will remain between myself and the judges, enough to say it is such a fickle thing!!!
Tree wise thanks must go to Reg Bolton for his Elm and Deshojo maple, to Mark and Rita Copper for there two white pines and the Chinese elm, to John Harris from Dragon for his white pine and juniper, to Jerry Wheeler for his black thorn and a great little fern accent, to Llinos Tarling from Dragon for her superb larch group, for Bob from Di Ichi bonsai for his Japanese maple.
Form a work point of view Thanks must go to Reg and Jeff Bolton from Swindon, to Gerwin Reynolds , John Harris and Jerry wheeler from Dragon, to Peter Fielding from Cardiff and Keith from Glyn Deri.
There was masses of interest as is always the case at this type of show and of course how many times we are asked How old is it? and How much would it cost? That aside there was genuine interest in the trees and for those on duty there was no let up in answering questions from the thousands of people coming through, good practice for Chelsea in a few weeks time!
Thanks to everyone involved.
Regards
Chris
